As a Reminder: F=FATS O=OIL G=GREASE can cause sewer backups and overflows which can cause health hazards, damage to home interiors, environmental concerns and more maintenance on the sewer system than would ordinarily be required. FOG is one of the leading causes of clogged side-sewers. A byproduct of cooking, FOG comes from meat fats, lard, oil, shortening, butter, margarine, food scraps, baking goods, sauces and dairy products. When these are washed or poured down a drain, they stick to the inside of sewer pipes. In a short time, the grease can substantially build up and block sewer pipes. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain the side-sewer from the home to the City's sewer main line, and by keeping grease and fats out of the sewer system, homeowners may save considerable money in plumbing bills and the inconvenience this may cause.
Please help us prevent sewer backups and overflows by keeping our system FAT-FREE:
